Dentures

Dentures are a removable device which are worn to replace missing teeth. At Lysaght Dental we offer a range of dentures to suit every pocket so the loss of teeth doesn’t prevent you from feeling confident.

Standard Full Dentures:

Standard full dentures are dentures that comprise a full set of upper and lower teeth made from acrylic. This type of denture uses suction to stay in place. They are made of a pliable material which makes suction easy. A denture adhesive may be required to increase the hold of your denture and reduce denture movement.

Partial Dentures:

Partial dentures are dentures that replace only a limited number of teeth, not an entire set. Partial dentures are a single piece fitting which is supported by the remaining teeth and gums. They are much more secure than standard full dentures and are more comfortable. Partial dentures are available in Acrylic and Chrome. Chrome dentures offer a closer fit due to a thinner cross section and clasps which hold the denture in place.

Flexible Dentures:

Flexible dentures are lighter, stronger, and blend in more with the natural tissue tone than conventional acrylic or metal based dentures. A flexible partial denture does not use metal clasps which can be very visible in the mouth. Flexible dentures are held in place by tissue-coloured clasps produced as part of the denture during processing. These clasps cause no wear on existing teeth; they are more comfortable and are much less noticeable due to their translucent nature, blending with the natural tissue tone of the patient.

Immediate Dentures:

Immediate dentures are made as a temporary replacement of natural teeth after extractions to allow gums and bone to heal before making a more permanent denture or placing implants. When teeth are extracted there is bone loss at the extraction site as the gum heals, this over time creates a space between the gum and the immediate denture. It is recommended that you allow 4-6months for healing before getting a permanent denture to get the best possible fit.
